Wandering

October 26th, 2007

So I’ve been wandering. What else does one do when one is jobless? I guess the answer to that could be “apply for jobs,” but that’s no fun. In all actuality, I have been applying. A good number of them, but it’s only day three, so it’s too early to hear back from them. I’m sure I’ll get something, I just hope it’s good.

Anyway, back to wandering. This is really a cool town. The past two days I went east, and today I went west. To the west is downtown with all the shops and tall buildings one expects in a city. One of the stores they’re known for is Powell’s, which is the largest independent bookstore in the country (maybe world). It’s so bloody large that they have maps of the store so you don’t get lost, and it’s colour coded.

To the east is the, and this is for Joe & Susan, bohemian part of the city. They have a lot of cool shops and restaurants and places I want to check out, but that will come in time.

Yesterday I also checked out the place I’m planning on living next month. It looks good so far. I say so far because he’s re-doing the entire place, but it has hard wood floors, marble counters, new windows, doors and heat. And it’s reasonably priced and in a good neighbourhood. I’m excited for it. It’ll be ready just before I need to move out of this place, so that works out nicely.
