Happy Easter

March 22nd, 2008

I have nothing to update, but I thought I’d say hi. And I do read the comments, and I do respond to them (or at least I try to). Thanks for still checking the blog. I know it hasn’t been exciting, but such is life, eh?

I’m going to be even less available in the near future. April 13th is our project Go Live, and so we’re getting down to the wire. Lots of overtime. Last Friday I checked my hours and I only needed to come in for an hour an a half to get my time in. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way as I had a lot of things to do.

And there’s after Go Live. That’s when the real fun begins. We’re giving the hospital 24/7 support for the new system, which means everyone will be working 12 hour shifts, some of which will be nights. Mind you none of this comes as a surprise. I knew all about this going into the job. But they pay well, and I’ll be getting mondo overtime. I just be hallucinating by the end of it ;)

Oh, and the picture is me with my friend’s cat. It’s an old picture from last year and has no relevance to my story. I just thought I should put a picture up. That cat is scared of everyone, but she just jumped into my lap. What can I say, cats love me.

Eddie Izzard Tries to Buy a Cow in Ye Olde English

March 9th, 2008

Two posts in a row! Craziness! But I just had to share this with you. Part because I’m a language geek, but also in part because I love Eddie Izzard. For those of you who are not familiar with him (for shame!) he’s a British comedian. He’s also coming to Portland in June. Pre-sale tickets are available on Monday, so here’s to getting some!

Yeah, We’re Losers

March 8th, 2008

I didn’t tight role my jeans. I thought about it, but I didn’t. I really want to get a decked out, but I don’t actually own anything 80’s. I *could* go thrift store shopping, but that’ll have to wait.

I had a great weekend with Bethany. She heard so much about my adventures in decades past, that she wanted to go too. And so we did. We danced our way until the wee hours of the morning. There were some there straight out of the 80’s. One guy, who’s a regular, hasn’t quite left the 80’s. It’s not just a Friday night event for him. More power to you, man!

We ran around the city seeing as much as we could. There are some photos of the weekend in the attached album. There aren’t many, but they are what they are. We did get crazy one night and take photos of ourselves. You can see a good example above. We had entirely too much fun with it.

So we had our fun, but Sunday morning I dropped her off at Union Station (yeah Amtrak!), and said our goodbyes. Exhausted from a long and fun weekend, I went to the Schnitz to hear Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony. It was extremely well done (I’d expect nothing less at the Schnitz), but I was extremely tired afterward.

And then Monday came. In at six am, out at 5:15 pm. Oh so much fun. Those days aren’t the norm, but long days are par for the course. Especially with April 13th looming ever closer. So as a result I’m usually tired. Or maybe just lazy. But either way, it takes me a bit longer than I’d like to get my blogs post. But thanks for still reading!

Oh, and for your listening pleasure, below is an artist that I’ve come to like. His name is Rob Costlow and he plays solo piano. SP album are often hit or miss and can be very boring. He, in my opinion, does an excellent job of it. So if you like piano music, give him a go. And if you really like it, you can download the entire album. Legally. His works are in the creative commons. Anyway, check him out.
